Conservative Clean Sweep in County Council Elections.

All seven Conservative County Council candidates in the Surrey Heath Constituency were returned to County Hall following the June 4th Elections.

Further to a regular meeting of the ‘Management Team’ and Divisional Executive the Officers and Committee of SHCA unanimously re-adopted Michael Gove as the Conservative Party Candidate at the next General Election.

Three Councillors are new to the County Council namely Cllr Stuart Macleod (Windlesham), Cllr Bill Chapman (Camberley East) and Denis Fuller (Camberley West).

The Conservative share of the vote actually increased by 1% to 52% from the 2005 election.

However the real losers were the Liberal Democrats whose share of the vote slumped from 37% in 2005 to 26%.

Conservatives in Surrey Heath put their success down to hard campaigning for six months. From artic conditions in January to warmer evenings in May.

The total focus is now to build up the organisation through to the anticipated General Election in June 2010
